Description
Summary:The subject of the analysis is the Eco-Church movement created in the USA in the mid 80s. The main objective of the movement was to "develop among American Christians environmental awareness and responsibility for the natural world, understood in the theological way - as a great work of God". The activity of the movement went beyond its theological and ecological dimensions, giving it a wider context - social and political one. The analysis of the movement’s activity over the last three decades as well as the attitude of US administration to the phenomenon is not only an interesting case study, but also an opportunity for reflection on the place of the two largest American holiness "God" and "America" in contemporary ecological rhetoric.
