Summary: | The paper deals with myth and allegory in Plato’s dialogues regarding their communicative function, or their role in communicating philosophical message and ideas as well as stimulating determined human reactions to the message and ideas that are being communicated. The case examined is the myth of human creation in Timaeus. The subject matter is considered with reference to a similar function of myth in Greek religion, and particularly in Greek mysteries, which constitute the natural context of myth. |
