In this paper I argue that there is a close relationship between ‚modernity‛ and religious fundamentalism‛, however ‚modernity‛ has a negative connotation as a traumatic social and individual experience. Lynchburg, Virginia, became a symbol of what was wrong with modernity imposing pseudoscientific policies of eugenics and growth fundamentalism resulted from that experience. | ||
