| Zusammenfassung: | The aim of my article is to show that one may regard the process of becoming the nonbeliever - especially if it takes place under the domination of religious culture - as a kind of conversion. According to this thesis, I treat the Polish nonbelievers as non-religious converts. There are several reasons for that. First of all, the vast majority of them were in the past religious people. Secondly, the transition to unbelief is usually an important biographical turning point in Polish nonbelievers’ biographies. Thirdly, the transition to unbelief causes changes in their perception of reality. Arguing for this thesis I use the results of my own research over the community of Polish nonbelievers. |
