Summary:This article proposes to analyze three distinct moments of Augustinian reading about the sound phenomenon, thus contributing to a better appropriation of what the author's philosophy dealt with on the subject. This is a theme that is still relatively little known in the area of Augustine of Hippo, although it represented a fundamental apex of the formative proposal organized by the author since his conversion movement to Christianity. First, we take the music from a logical and discursive interpretation. Then, for its catechetical and formative potential. Lastly, what perhaps constitutes the main emphasis of his contribution, namely: the mystical elevation of the human being, beyond the limits of language and the spoken word, as an instrument of the unfathomable, of the divine.
