Religion and Tourism: Directions and Methods of Curriculum Development

| Summary: | 본 논문은 종교와 관광 관련 교과목 개설을 위한 방향과 방법을 고찰하고 있다. 이러한 문제의식은 융합을 요구하는 시대적인 상황과 종교학의 실용학문과의 연계를 고민하는 데에서 비롯되었다. 이를 위해 본 논문은 주제와 관련한 종교학과 관광학계의 연구 경향을 검토했다. 검토 결과 종교학과 관광학의 성지순례라는 교집합의 관심분야를 도출했다. 이를 근거로 다음과 같은 주장을 제시했다. 종교와 관광 관련 교과목 개발을 위해서는 첫째, 종교학과 관광학의 접점을 찾아야 한다. 둘째, 종교학과 관광학의 접점을 찾기 위해서는 교과목 담당자의 노력이 필요하다. 특히 교수자는 관광학에 대한 기본 개념을 숙지하여 종교연구자의 입장뿐만 아니라 관광학적 관점이 필요하다는 점을 피력했다. 셋째, 종교와 관광의 교과목 개발 방향과 방법은 학습 모듈을 설계하고 학습자의 교육요구도와 중요도를 반영해야 한다. 종교와 관광관련 교과목은 종교와 관광, 종교관광콘텐츠, 명상관광, 축제이벤트, 민속관광 등이다. 아울러 교양과목, 전공과목, 전공마이크로디그리과정을 제시했다. 본 논문의 한계는 교과목 개발의 방향과 방법에 대해 교육학적인 이론과 방법 적용이 부족했다는 점이다. 교과목 개발은 교수자의 입장에서 진행되었으며, 학습자와 관련 분야의 산업체의 견해가 미진했다. 이러한 부분은 향후 보완이 필요한 부분이다. This thesis examines the direction and method for opening a curriculum in religion and tourism. This critical examination came from contemplating the connection between the current rise of convergence studies and the practical application of religious studies. To this end, this thesis reviewed research trends in the field of religion and tourism related to the subject. Through this review, a common area of interest in religious studies and tourism studies was identified, around the concept of a ‘pilgrimage to the Holy Land.’ Based on this, the following arguments were presented: To develop a curriculum based on religion and tourism, it is first necessary to find a point of contact between religion and tourism. Second, efforts to find a point of contact between religion and tourism require the efforts of the person in charge of the subject. In particular, the professor expressed the need for a tourism perspective as well as a religious researcher’s position by familiarizing himself with the basic concepts of tourism. Third, the direction and method of developing the subjects of religion and tourism should include the design of learning modules and reflect learners’ educational needs and priorities. As an example of subject development, religion and tourism subject development was presented around the theme of ritual. Religion and tourism-related subjects include religion and tourism, religious tourism contents, meditation tourism, festival events, and folk tourism. In addition, liberal arts courses, major courses, and major microdegree courses were presented. The limitation of this thesis was the lack of application of pedagogical theories and methods to the direction and method of subject development. Course development was carried out from the instructor’s point of view, and the opinions of learners and related industries were insufficient. These are areas that need improvement in the future. |
