A study on Baekhaphwa(Lily), a Book of Protestant Hymns in 1957: Focusing on didacticness, flexibility, and accessibility
본 연구는 1957년 발간된 『백합화』찬양집에 관한 연구로서 교술성(敎述性), 유동성(流動性), 접근성을 중심으로 분석하였다. 1957년 경주성서학원 학생들이 교회에서 활용하기 위해 제작한 찬양집 『백합화』는 당시 유행하는 찬양곡을 모아 편집한 형태이다. 신학생들은 정규 예배시간에 부르는 찬송가 이외에 다양한 교회활동에 활용할 수 있고 좀 더 친숙하게 부를 수 있는 찬양집을 원했다. 필자는 『백합화』의 연구의의를 두 가지로 정리하였다. 첫째, 『백합화』의 수록곡들은 한국인이 창작한 가사들로 한국인들의 신앙의식과 시대인식이 드러나 있...

| Summary: | 본 연구는 1957년 발간된 『백합화』찬양집에 관한 연구로서 교술성(敎述性), 유동성(流動性), 접근성을 중심으로 분석하였다. 1957년 경주성서학원 학생들이 교회에서 활용하기 위해 제작한 찬양집 『백합화』는 당시 유행하는 찬양곡을 모아 편집한 형태이다. 신학생들은 정규 예배시간에 부르는 찬송가 이외에 다양한 교회활동에 활용할 수 있고 좀 더 친숙하게 부를 수 있는 찬양집을 원했다. 필자는 『백합화』의 연구의의를 두 가지로 정리하였다. 첫째, 『백합화』의 수록곡들은 한국인이 창작한 가사들로 한국인들의 신앙의식과 시대인식이 드러나 있다. 즉 한국개신교의 무형의 문화유산으로서 한국인의 토착화된 신앙을 살펴볼 수 있는 자료이다. 둘째, 노래를 통해 전통문학과 전통음악이 근대에 와서 여러 갈래가 혼재되고 상호영향을 받아 변화된 모습을 살펴볼 수 있다. 『백합화』에는 창가(唱歌), 민요(民謠), 잡가(雜歌)의 영향이 나타나고 콘트라팍타(Contrafacta)의 방식으로 친숙한 곡조에 가사를 붙여 부르는 형태를 활용하고 있다. 곡조는 찬송가를 비롯하여 민요, 동요, 서양곡조, 일본곡조 등을 사용하였다. This study examines the 『Baekhaphwa』 hymnbook published in 1957 focusing on its didacticness, flexibility, and accessibility. The hymnbook 『Baekhaphwa』, which was produced by students of Gyeongju Bible School in 1957 for use in churches, is a compilation of hymns that were popular at the time. Bible School students wanted a hymnbook that could be used for various church activities in addition to the hymns sung during regular worship events and from which they could sing the hymns more familiarly. We summarized the research significance of 『Baekhaphwa』 into two parts. First, the lyrics in Baekhaphwa are created by Koreans, revealing Koreans’ religious consciousness and awareness of the times. In other words, as an intangible cultural heritage of Korean Protestantism, they offer insights into the indigenous beliefs of Koreans. Second, the songs make it possible to take a look at how traditional literature and music have changed in modern times, with various branches of songs mixed and mutually influenced. 『Baekhaphwa』 shows the traces of being influenced by Changga (a form of Korean traditional poetry), folk songs, and Japga (miscellaneous songs), and utilizes the form of singing by attaching lyrics to familiar tunes in the manner of Contrafacta. The tunes used hymns, folk songs, nursery rhymes, Western tunes, and Japanese tunes. |
