Understanding the ‘tiāndìyīnyáng xiānwèizhǔzhāng (天地陰陽 先爲主張)’ of Jeonggamnok: Focusing on the worldview of tiāndìyīnyáng in ‘Huipiào’ of ‘Jeonggammundap(鄭堪問答)’

| Summary: | 정감록은 조선시대 중, 후반기부터 전해 내려오는 한국 고유의 비결예언서 및 이에 대한 신앙을 통칭한다. 이 논문의 목적은 비결서 ‘정감록’의 문두에 주로 등장하는 ‘천지음양 선위주장(天地陰陽 先爲主張)’이라는 구절의 의미를 정확하게 이해하는 것이다. 이 구절은 『정감록』의 여러 판본 중 중요한 자료인 「감결」, 「비지론」, 「이정유산론」 등에 등장하는 인물들의 대화 주제이며 ‘정감록’을 관통하는 ‘천지음양’의 세계관에서 비롯된 것이다. 이 구절에 대한 기존의 번역이 명확하지 않아 ‘정감록’의 해당 구절을 이해하고자 시도하는 이는 누구나 어려움에 부딪히게 된다. 이에 필자는 ‘정감록’의 ‘천지음양’의 이해가 잘 드러나 있는 판본인 「정감문답」 속에서 회(會, 1회 10,800년)를 주기로 우주 역사 연대기를 작성한 정감의 ‘회표’를 중심으로 그의 천지음양관을 규명하고자 시도하였다. 연구의 핵심은 ｢정감문답｣과 여러 ‘정감록’ 이본과의 비교 분석, 그리고 「정감문답」 안에서의 전후 맥락 분석을 통하여 천지와 음양을 분리하여 "천지는 음양이 먼저 주장이 된다."라는 기존의 번역과는 달리 ‘천지음양’을 하나의 어휘처럼 묶어서 의미통합적으로 이해할 때 해당 정감록의 서사를 좀 더 분명하게 파악할 수 있다는 주장이다. 결론적으로, ‘천지음양 선위주장’을 "천지음양이 먼저 주재를 한다."라고 해석하여 ‘먼저 천지음양에 근거하여 길흉을 판단하고 예언한다.’는 의미로 읽을 때, 풍수에 따른 길흉판단의 출발지점인 ‘정감록’의 천지음양관에 부합하는 이해가 될 것이다. 끝으로 이 연구는 ‘정감록’의 세계 안으로 들어가는 문턱 혹은 대문으로 비유될 수 있는 ‘천지음양 선위주장’이라는 구절의 의미를 명료하게 해명한 점에서 그 의의를 찾을 수 있을 것이다. Jeonggamnok(鄭鑑錄) refers collectively to Korea"s own secret prophecies and beliefs that have been handed down since the mid to late Joseon Dynasty. It also refers to the faith in the contents of these books which consisted of divination and prophecy. The purpose of this paper is to accurately understand the meaning of the phrase ‘tiāndìyīnyáng xiānwèizhǔzhāng(天地陰陽 先爲主張)’ that usually appears at the beginning of several Jeonggamnok books. This phrase is the dialogue theme of characters appearing in ‘Gamgeol(鑑訣)’, ‘Bijiron(秘知論)’, and ‘Yi⋅Jeong lyusanron(李鄭流山論)’ and so on, which is key materials among the various editions of Jeonggamnok. And this phrase can be said to be derived from the worldview of ‘tiāndìyīnyáng(天地陰陽)’, which runs through the entire Jeonggamnok. Since the existing translation of this phrase is not accurate, anyone who attempts to understand the phrase in Jeonggamnok faces difficulties. This paper is focused on analyzing ‘Huipiào(會票)’, a chronicle of the history of the universe presented by Jeonggam in unit of Hui(會, 10,800 years per one hui), in ‘Jeonggammundap(鄭堪問答)’, a edition that shows the characteristics of understanding ‘tiāndìyīnyáng’. The main point of this paper is to argue that if you combine ‘tiāndìyīnyáng’ like a single vocabulary and understand the meaning, the narrative of Jeonggamnok can be understood more clearly. This is an important understanding obtained through a comparative analysis of various Jeonggamnok editions and ‘Jeonggammundap’, and a contextual analysis within the same text. In conclusion, the meaning of ‘tiāndìyīnyáng xiānwèizhǔzhāng’ is, ‘tiāndìyīnyáng presides over first’. In other words, in the overall context of Jeonggamnok, it means "First, I will judge and prophesy the future based on ‘tiāndìyīnyáng’. This will be an understanding that is consistent with the worldview of ‘tiāndìyīnyáng’ in Jeonggamnok reflecting feng shui(風水) based on yīnyáng ideas. Finally, this study can find its contribution in that it provides an accurate source for clarifying the meaning of the phrase ‘tiāndìyīnyáng xiānwèizhǔzhāng’, which can be compared to the threshold or gate of Jeonggamrok’s world. |
