Description
Summary:Prophetic medicaments are mentioned in hadith literature, which records the sayings, actions, and approvals of the Prophet Muhammad. His teachings and practices serve various functions, including guidance on maintaining good health and treating illnesses. Historically, one of the well-known Prophetic medicaments found in Malay medical manuscripts is reciting prayers as protection against illness, to cure diseases, and for good health derived from hadith texts. Thus, this article delves into analyse of the Prophets’ prayer medicaments practiced in Malay medical treatment by focusing on the Kitab Tib MSS1653 manuscript. The study is descriptive library research by applying the qualitative content analysis method. The data was then analysed by using inductive, deductive, and comparative methods between hadith and Malay medical practices in healing diseases. The result shows that 17 hadiths were mentioned as prayer recitations in this manuscript and practiced by the Malay community in their medical treatment. It is proof that Prophetic prayer medicament and Malay medical treatment are important and complement physical treatments by reciting prayers and seeking divine assistance as integral parts of the healing process.
