| Summary: | In the analysis of Gal 4:10, research has often pointed to Jewish calendar piety as the appropriate religious background. In this study, special attention is given to the Greek-Roman context, with reference to the religious feasts and festivals as found in the religious calendars of antiquity. The primary source used here are the documentary papyri, which have not yet been explored in the discussion, although they can offer valuable details about the everyday religious life. Only the interaction of the two perspectives and the social embedding of the statement let the sharp polemical point of this verse appear in its true light. In der Analyse von Gal 4,10 hat die Forschung oft auf die jüdische Kalenderfrömmigkeit als religiösen Hintergrund hingewiesen. In dieser Studie wird dem griechisch-römischen Kontext besondere Aufmerksamkeit gewidmet, und zwar mit Bezug auf die religiösen Feste und Feiertage, wie sie in den Kalendern der Antike zu finden sind. Als primäre Quelle werden hier die dokumentarischen Papyri herangezogen, die in der Diskussion noch nicht berücksichtigt wurden, obwohl sie des Öfteren wertvolle Details über das religiöse Alltagsleben enthalten. Erst das Zusammenspiel der beiden Perspektiven — jüdische und griechisch-römische Frömmigkeit — und die soziale Einbettung der Aussage in Gal 4,10 lassen die scharfe polemische Pointe dieses Verses in ihrem wahren Licht erscheinen. |
