| Summary: | Generosity is one of the manifestations of prosocial behaviour. Despite the growing interest in generosity in psychology, there are very few questionnaires to measure this variable. One tool that has good psychometric properties is the Interpersonal Generosity Scale. The scale is used to measure generosity, understood as the sharing of resources related to subjective self, such as time, energy, attention, and emotions. The aim of the study was to adapt the Interpersonal Generosity Scale into Polish. We conducted two studies; a total of 863 people (69.6% women) were examined. To determine the psychometric properties of the scale, we performed exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis which revealed a bi-factor solution. The internal consistency (Cronbach’s alpha) of the IGS was satisfactory. The Polish version of the scale was significantly correlated with other psychological measures such as altruism, empathy, gratitude and forgiveness, but not with religiosity. In sum, the results showed that the Polish version of the Interpersonal Generosity Scale is a tool with good psychometric properties. We recommend its use for further research on generosity. |
