Description
Summary:As an integrative scholar and clinician who is not a member of the Asian and Asian American diaspora, I believe that this special issue is a gift—not only for those of Asian descent but also for those of us outside that community as well. As an African American woman of enslaved descent, one of the values that I have found in reading these articles is that they have broadened and deepened my understanding of my colleagues, clients, fellow congregants at church, and my friends. This special issue invites us to broaden our understanding of the diversity of cultural and individual experiences that exists within the Asian diaspora within the United States (and around the world). For those of us who belong to other cultural communities, this issue also invites us to see ourselves more fully by allowing the uniqueness’s of our Asian siblings’ experiences to help us understand ourselves more fully as well.
