| Zusammenfassung: | The translation of hadith usually provides incorrect meaning for archaic words. To fill the gap, this study opts to assess the Malay translation for uṣūl al-silq in “Terjemahan Sahih Al-Bukhari” and reveal its correct meaning. This study employs a qualitative approach, as it collects data through literature review. Then, the collected data will be interpreted through critical analysis which consist of 3 subanalyses; textual, contextual and comparative subanalyses. Ultimately, this study finds a hadith on uṣūl al-silq mentioned under 4 different topics in Ṣaḥῑḥ al-Bukhārī. All provided meanings under the 4 topics in Terjemahan Sahih Al-Bukhari are improper as 2 of them are incorrect and 2 others are inexact. Veritably, the meaning of uṣūl al-silq based on the analysis is beetroot (Beta vulgaris). This study therefore recommends that adequate interpretation for the archaic words of hadith be carefully crafted to ensure reliability. |
