| Summary: | This paper will address some issues raised in the insightful contributions to the symposium on my recent book Coherence of the Incoherence. First, I will examine Davat Dadikhuda’s defense of Ibn Sina against objections Ghazali raises to his proof of cosmic pre-eternity, pertaining to time and the causal relation between God and creation. Second, I will examine a critique of Ibn Sina brought by Nazif Muhtaroglu regarding the distinction between de re and de dicto necessity. Second, I will share some initial thoughts on Ahmed Abdel Meguid’s interpretation of Ghazali’s position on modality. |
