| Summary: | Modern day youths have grown up digital and connected to a much greater extent than any preceding generation. Their relationship to religion is characterized by individualization and the dissolution of traditions. Religion to them mainly means insti tutions and church organisations. They show an attitude of distancing themselves from a “clerical manner of speech” and “insecurity” as far as determining their position towards religion is concerned. They could be called religious fabricators of meaning. Fitting the religious into one’s own biography is replacing the stabilizing role of religion. What they need, therefore, is religious accompaniment and to be enabled to find orientation in life and towards meaning by religious education. |
