Description
Summary:Drawing upon the homilies, biblical commentaries, and letters of Pope Gregory I, this article explores Gregory’s understanding of the Church’s efforts to evangelize the Jews in light of the Pauline prediction (in Romans 11:25–26) that all Israel would ultimately convert to Christianity. Although he often referred in his writings to the end times as fast approaching, Gregory never proposed any large-scale efforts to evangelize the Jewish people in his day, even as he crafted a rather detailed description of what the final incoming of the Jews into the Church would entail.
