Description
Summary:A mixed-methods review is well suited for dealing with questions about complex phenomena in different contexts and perspectives. This article presents an integrative, systematic review of quantitative and qualitative field research on factors affecting religious tolerance and prejudice in the school context of children and young people aged 5–19 in the school context between 2001 and 2021 in England, Germany, the Netherlands, and Belgium. In this study, a data-based convergent design was preferred. In this design, all included studies were examined simultaneously using the same synthesis process. Based on the review question, semantic themes were analysed deductively. Thematic analysis revealed contextual and developmental elements. Then, in the light of emerging contextual and developmental elements, some suggestions were presented regarding coping with religious diversity in schools and intercultural religious education.
