| Zusammenfassung: | The Horn of Africa is one of the oldest regions of dissemination of the world religions: Judaism, Christianity and Islam. Whereas native religions have no ambition to expand their numbers by proselytism, one of the characteristics of the world religions is that they develop missionary practices which aim at converting those who adhere to other beliefs. But if the cultural contacts between groups of people with different religions are not sufficiently intensive, they can also lead to the development of religious syncretism.
