Apóstoles en la Historia de la nación chichimeca de Fernando de Alva Ixtlilxóchitl

| Zusammenfassung: | This article studies certain aspects of the History of the Chichimec Nation written by the castizo chronicler Fernando de Alva Ixtlilxóchitl in the early seventeenth century in colonial Mexico, and focus on his historical narrative in which two holy apostles appear, Saint James and Saint Thomas, in order to analyze the complexity of the information contained in this chronicle. It will be shown that, despite being considered an "indigenous chronicler", Alva Ixtlilxóchitl also knew and/or used Spanish sources, to present a historical interpretation of his own. This article also elaborates in a brief reconsideration about historiographic studies and point out that we need to clarify further relationships and interrelationships among different genres of historiographic works in New Spain. En este artículo estudiamos ciertos aspectos de la Historia de la nación chichimeca escrita por el cronista castizo Fernando de Alva Ixtlilxóchitl a principios del siglo xvii en el México colonial. Nos enfocamos en su narrativa histórica en la que aparecen dos santos apóstoles, Santiago el Mayor y Santo Tomás, para analizar la complejidad de la información contenida en dicha crónica. Así señalamos que, a pesar de ser considerado un "cronista indígena", Alva Ixtlilxóchitl también conoció y utilizó fuentes españolas, para elaborar una interpretación histórica propiamente suya. Asimismo, desarrollamos una breve reconsideración del estudio de la historiografía novohispana y acentuamos la necesidad de ir aclarando aún más las relaciones e interrelaciones de obras historiográficas, consideradas genéricamente distintas. |
