Description
Résumé:The revival of practical reason caused Ch. Perelman to reappraise the importance of rhetoric. Reason, thereby, is seen not only as theoretical, universal and scientific as in the Enlightenment ideal, but it can also be practical, particular and probable. This led Heidegger to propose an anthropology based on phronesis. F. Rigotti holds that metaphor is vital for the communication of moral values. She shows how the ethical theories of both Rawls and Habermas depend on such basic metaphors. Ethics in dealing with changing situations needs rhetoric in order to be practical.
