520 |a The present essay aims at a critical reconstruction of K. Müller’s philosophical development in his lectures on the relationship between religion and modernity. This argument, which recuperates the reciprocal relation between religion and critical philosophy, theorized by K.L. Reinhold, deconstructs both today’s dogmatic positions tied to an exclusiveness of belief, which emerged inside the so-called «return of religions», as well as the neo-illuminist positions of «new-atheism». In the second part, the essay outlines a philosophical path that, crosses the same problematic areas considered by Müller and makes out in the philosophies of difference of Nietzschean style an alternative of ample tolerance with respect to the author’s idealistic and self-conscious critical monotheism, as well as J. Assmann’s inclusive monism, which represents the fundamental philosophical option which Müller’s discourse is set against.
