| Résumé: | O objetivo do texto é propor uma discussão sobre as relações entre secular e religioso a partir da análise de um confíto entre traficantes e organizadores de uma festa de santo católica, a Festa da Penha, celebrada anualmente na cidade do Rio de Janeiro Festa da Penha. O episódio, ocorrido no ano de 1994, pôs em risco a celebração, mas permitiu simultaneamente perceber quais as relações sociais que precisam ser acionadas para que uma festa de santo possa acontecer, e como essas relações vão muito além do domínio estrito da religião. The aim of this text is to foster a discussion on the relations between the secular and the religious realms based on an analysis of a connict between drug dealers and the promoters of a Roman Catholic saint festival, the Feast of Penha, which is celebrated annually in the city of Rio de Janeiro. The above mentioned episode, which took place in the year of 1994 posed a threat to the celebration. At the same time. it allowed the analyst to perceive which social relations need to be engaged in order for a saint festival to actually take place, and how these relations go lar beyond the strict domain of religion. |
