Description
Résumé:This paper explores how genetic and assisted reproductive technologies (ARTs) are implemented in Qatar. It investigates how medical professionals deal with moral issues surrounding the various applications of these technologies, on the basis of fieldwork that was undertaken on this topic. The paper places the views of the medical professionals within the local (national/regional/cultural) as well as wider normative (legal/Sunni-Islamic) contexts and demonstrates how the implementation of ARTs in Qatar is informed by a wide range of ethical, legal, professional, and cultural norms.
