Summary: | The adequacy of Lofland's model of conversion has been questioned by Seggar and Kunz; but their data were inappropriate for assessing the model because they dealt neither with conversion to a deviant perspective nor with psychological conversion. The present study of a unique group of young "born again" Christians, a group considered "deviant," suggests that extreme characteristics of Lofland's subjects led him to identify and order the "steps" in his model too narrowly. A revised model of conversion is presented. |
