Zusammenfassung:Economic theory offers an analysis of an individual's choice of spiritual goods to produce in this life and offer to God. It also offers some hypotheses concerning the role of the church in the production of these goods. The selection of goods to be produced should be reflected in the individual's choice of religious denomination. This paper examines effects of changes in income on utilization of time and money in spiritual production, according to type of spiritual goods produced, as well as on the mix of goods produced. Increases in income lead to shifts to more liberal types of religion. However, among religious conservatives, who specialize in time-intensive spiritual goods, the change in time devoted to religious activity is less, and the change in money devoted to religious activity is greater than among religious liberals, who specialize in less time-intensive spiritual goods.
