| Summary: | The article takes the topic of political conditioning of religious dialogue between Catholicism and Judaism during the pontificate of Pope John Paul II. In the first part the author presents the direct legacy of the Vaticanuum II taken by the Pope, as well that of his predecessors. In the second part the author presents how it had been developed by the Polish Pope and what had been brought into account of the interreligious dialogue, which is almost every single time placed on the edge of religion and politics. Among the values brought into this dialogue we may find first of all the testimony of faith and live, as well a very expressive group memory of the Church, a persistent striving for maintaining the rights of the human being and international communities, maintaining a necessary symmetry in agency by the partners of the dialogue and striving for revealing the historical truth (even when its painful) about ourselves and the mutual relations. |
