| Summary: | Birgit Meyer's research has demonstrated how Pentecostalism has a discontinuous notion of time that demonizes tradition. On the wake of this acquisition, the article shows that the individual salvation experience suggests also an interpretation of the collective history. Analyzing the Rwandan case, the paper therefore investigates how the current Pentecost implies a reconsideration of the past generations' conversion to Christianity. For the Reborns the past conversion was the beginning of a curse that affects the present, since it changed but didn't dissolve the relation with the spirits of tradition. In this sense the Pentecostals bring us back to consider the balance of forces in the Christianization process during the colonial period and, in so doing, rethink the categories with whom that violent connection between the local and global was analyzed.
